Dr. Muhammad Azizul Hoque, Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, joined as Vice Chancellor (Acting) at Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology (proposed name), which was approved as Sheikh Hasina University of Science and Technology, Banshgari, Bhairab, Kishoreganj, on December 01, 2024. His home district is Kishoreganj.
Dr. Hoque is a distinguished scholar and an eminent figure in the field of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Bangladesh. With a career spanning over 23 years at SUST, he has made significant contributions to academia and institutional development. He has held several key positions, including Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Director of the Centre of Excellence, Transport Administrator at SUST, and Convener of various development projects.
He also served from January 2021 to June 2024 as the Team Leader of the Supervision Consultant team at the Center for Research, Testing, and Consultancy, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (CRTC, CEE-SUST), for the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh’s (CAAB) mega-project titled “Expansion of Osmani International Airport, Sylhet (1st Phase)”.
He earned his B.Sc. Engg. and M.Sc. Engg. degrees from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), completed his Ph.D. from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, and pursued a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of South Australia.
